John Leslie Hulcombe is back with yet another ethereal, psychedelic indie rock track to hit you right in the feelings. This time, collaborating with Andrea Kirwin and Peter Koppes, John has taken a step back from the fire. After the success of his last two singles, Born of the Fire and Love Found A Way, John has been working tirelessly. He’s said that wheneverJohn puts out new music the first thing you’ll be able to sense is the genuine love and passion that goes into it. I could not say it any better, especially with his latest release, Sanctuary.
Sanctuary is a mellow, calm track with the most surreal feeling to it. The positive energy that flows through the song is absolutely phenomenal. Moreover, with the amazing harmonies from Kirwin and Koppes, the song seems to be so uplifting. While the lyrics can seem dark, bleak and even distraught at times, there’s a sense of hope. Sanctuary / I need a place to hide / When the world drags me down / I’m burned from the inside. These lines echo through the chorus with so much power and passion. John Leslie Hulcombe has the most soothing voice to comfort you. Additionally, the instrumental is so light and surreal. Even the guitar solo isn’t particularly jarring. In fact, it almost acts like a human voice.
John Leslie Hulcombe has outdone himself, yet again. Every track keeps getting better and if you haven’t already heard of him yet this would be a good place to start. You can find more of his music on major streaming platforms and they are all amazing!
