Toronto-based singer/songwriter and producer IVAN recently came out with his debut release, “Eyes For Her“. The Canadian artist is inspired by a variety of musical themes and is known to incorporate a mix of genres in his productions. His latest release showcases his unique style excellently, featuring powerful vocals and vibrant instrumentation.
“Eyes For Her” begins with IVAN’s emotive vocal melody over a chord progression played on a warm electric piano. “I can truly say / I’m not interested / In no one else / But my missus / Spellbound by her / I found myself / At heavens door“. Accompanied by melodies that seem both familiar and new, he sings sultry lyrics over an r&b-like rhythm. The track’s groove is well-supported by a tight drum progression and a deep bass; a top-notch production with a masterful mix!
As the track progresses, IVAN’s vocals get emphasized beautifully by a bed of harmonies in the choruses. Additionally, the infectious melody and lyrics make this one of those songs that you just can’t get out of your head. He’s flawlessly fused r&b, neo-soul, and jazz on “Eyes For Her”. With smooth transitions to support his melodies, intricately written stories, and moving instrumentals, IVAN delivers a solid performance with his debut release.
IVAN’s sound is an eclectic blend of the old and the new, making his songs enjoyable for a diverse set of listeners. I think his latest release is a great start to what looks to be a promising discography. I’m sure his new fans are eager to hear more!
