Fox Evades is the solo project of musician, songwriter and bedroom producer, Jordan Mae. Jordan crafts melodic Indie, Dream Pop, New Wave, Alternative music that really soothes the soul. Based out in the United Kingdom, Jordan shows strong resolve in standing up for women in music and other spheres of life. All of the music for Fox Evades has been written, created, recorded and produced by Jordan Mae, herself. Fox Evades released her debut single, The Heart That Drowned, in late 2020, and it is so interesting to see the progress being made nearly a year and a half later.
Strange Forever is the latest single to hit streaming platforms. The upbeat track reminds me of Britpop legends like The Stone Roses, Oasis, and Blur. However, I can’t discount the fact that Jordan Mae brings her personal touch to this. Her voice sounds like the melancholic salt in the sweetness of the instrumental. Her voice just amplifies the emotions. Specifically in the lines, It’s hard to be alone / You don’t have to be anymore. Listening to Strange Forever, indeed, comforts you with every element in the track acting as a pillar of strength. This track reminds me of DIIV’s Under The Sun — another track that really lifts my spirits.
Fox Evades is one of the most wholesome artists that will always be rooting for you. I don’t think there’s an artist who creates more uplifting and supportive music right now.
