Jacob Reddy – Nothing is Impossible | Uplifting

Jacob Reddy picked up his first guitar when he was seven years old and hasn’t put it down since! After returning from a massive ‘All 51 Cities In 22 Consecutive Days’ busking tour of England, it’s safe to say he’s made quite an impression on the music world! After back to back singles, Reddy is back with yet another dynamic pop single called Nothing is Impossible.

Filled with melodic finger picking and Jacob Reddy’s soft voice, the song is a total mood-lifter. The song has electro-pop influences with its percussive progressive bass that booms in the background and the hints of electronica that frame the chorus. When it comes to his music, Nothing is Impossible fully demonstrates his narrative ability as well as his overall large sound. Reddy’s edgier vocal tone combines well with this song and produces a cheerful ambiance, which is accompanied by acoustic guitars and whistles. The chorus provides some illumination as well as a background of synth melodies, larger drumming, and forceful voices, all of which contribute to the song’s overall success. The combination of modern instrumentation and vintage indie vibe creates a colourful bubble. Reddy’s vocals are one of the song’s highlights, with just the right mix of grit and gentleness to complement his indie vibe. This song should definitely find itself on your feel good playlist.

We had a chance to interview Jacob Reddy and here is what he had to say about his music :

1.Your new single, ‘Nothing is Impossible’ was very fun and inspiring to listen to. Can you tell me your inspiration behind it

Well, originally I wrote this song simply with the intention to create a kind of upbeat and uplifting song in the hopes to show people they can get through difficult times. However, over the summer I busked in all 51 Cities in England in 22 Days  to raise money for a local charity, Derian House Children’s Hospice.  The tour was really successful, raising just over £10,000, and when I was performing this song in each of the cities, many people compared the lyrics to the actual challenge of completing the tour.  Since then it’s almost become the anthem for the tour and I realised that I had to get into the studio and record it.

2. What led you to music in the first place?

I’ve loved music pretty much since as soon as I could speak (or more accurately, sing). I remember being 5 and belting out Queen tunes in the kitchen! However, I was first inspired to start playing music when I was six at my uncle and aunty’s wedding.  There was an awesome rock band called the Indie Killers playing fantastic music throughout the night and I remember staying up, listening to the whole set. After that getting a guitar was straight at the top of my Christmas list, and after my first guitar lesson on my 7th birthday I haven’t stopped playing since!

3. The single had a very electropop twist to it. Can you tell us who your biggest musical influences are?
This song admittedly has been a bit of a stretch out of my comfort zone (although  something I definitely intend on doing again) so most of my influences normally lie within a singer-songwriter indie pop/rock feel, with my biggest inspiration being Frank Turner, a folk punk legend!   However, with this song I’d say I was more influenced by artists such as One Republic, The Wombats and even James Blunt, whose recent album had a real synth/electro vibe to many of the songs.

4. How do these influences come through in your music?

I do constantly find myself basically ‘borrowing’ melodies or chord sequences from songs by my favourite artists when I start writing songs myself.  Hopefully, though, I then play around with the song structures and add my own spin on things.  I guess overall I try to fuse lots of different influences into my music, aiming to give it a unique feel but also something people will really enjoy.

5.Do you have more music planned for us? What do you see for yourself in the future?

This year more than ever I’ve really started trying to plan ahead with what I’m going to do. For now, its about releasing more music and getting stuff out there to see what people enjoy.  I’ve got several more releases produced, mixed and good to go in 2022, and am constantly writing new material, which I’m really looking forward to recording as soon as possible.  I’m also hoping to get out gigging far more this year as I absolutely love being on stage performing and can’t wait to play my songs in front of live audiences again!  As for the future, I hope to be playing music forever. Its been something I’ve loved for my whole life and I can’t see that changing.
