Huw & the Greater Good - Fight

Huw & the Greater Good – Fight | Anthemic

From Machester and Leeds, Huw & the Greater Good formed to create Alternative, Indie, Folk music. The quartet cites influences from classical and contemporary musicians. This includes Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Cage the Elephant, The Waterboy’s, and The War on Drugs. Focusing on themes of self-discovery, triumph and heartache, the Greater Good inspires their audiences. The band is quickly gaining momentum in the UK. Moreover, with their electrifying live performances, the band is developing quite the name for themselves.

Fight brings a retro, psychedelic approach to the pop-rock genre. The song begins with a quirky vocal intro with sparse instrumentation. The energy of the track builds gradually before breaking into a wide-open chorus. The vocalist, Huw Eddy, is a very distinct element of Huw & the Greater Good. He shares an uncanny affinity to Imagine Dragons vocalist Dan Reynolds in tone and timbre. Furthermore, the arrangement of Fight combines the use of analogue instruments and synthetic effects to provide a textural bed that is novel. Finally, the song reaches a fever pitch in the latter half of the song. The guitar solo which caps off the song is a very Americana and alternative sounding section that is clearly deliberate and quite endearing.

Moreover, Fight, has been able to keep up its streak of great music. This, additionally, shows their ability to excel in the alternative rock, folk and indie genres simultaneously. There’s something about Huw & the Greater Good that keeps their music so upbeat and high tempo.
