Bjartmar - Catching Fire

Bjartmar – Catching Fire | goth-pop

Icelandic based electronic pop artist Bjartmar, just released his newest single of 2022 called Catching Fire. This is high-intensity, upbeat piece is an atmospheric dive into the artist’s discography. The song opens up with a heart-beat that slowly progress and intensifies throughout the song. It is accompanied by atmospheric stringed accompaniment. Bjartmar’s vocals segue in hushed tones, which get amplified. The vocals are juxtaposed starkly against the music and really adds to the vibe of the song.
The production becomes significantly futuristic towards the chorus of the song, and we hear the artist Bjartmar’s call of catching fire. The song also has very gothic electro-pop vibes that border on punk-pop. The artist has a very significant binary oppositional feel that is very evident in his music. While the songs have a soft and mellow vibe, they often deal with intense topics, and honest, gory/gothic lyrics. A good example is the way Bjartmar describes himself through -” Kittens and chainsaws. Velvet and Poison.” He focuses on giving the listener a rich sensory experience. The song progresses and elevates itself and leaves you on a high.

Bjartmar has carved a niche out for himself through his music with the clever production and dynamic vocals. He creates these futuristic soundscapes, and Catching Fire is one of them. Reminds me a lot of cinema scores. I look forward to listening to more from Bjartmar.
