Bar Dog, Rosa Tu – Don’t Follow Me | Melancholy

Berlin-based songwriter, singer and composer Bar Dog lends his characteristic deep voice, along with New York-based singer/songwriter Rosa Tu, to their gentle new single “Don’t Follow Me”.

Bar Dog’s powerful voice, soulful delivery and uncompromising storytelling are some of his distinguishing features. He released his well-received debut album “Winds and Home” in 2019. This relentless 12-track set established him as a key voice in the songwriter community currently bubbling out of Berlin.

His latest release, “Don’t Follow Me”, is the third single from his upcoming album ‘River’. He composed and wrote the song himself along with Rosa Tu, Felix Buchner on bass, Phil Walker on electric guitar, and Fabrizio Tentoni on Moog and Nord lead.

The song is a duet about love, grief and life after death. It starts with a dreamy description of the acceptance of death, the loneliness that follows when you lose someone you loved and talks about moving on, accepting and loving the dark parts of existence. It concludes with the bitter truth of the formidability of time. With her breezy vocals, Rosa breathes life into the song. Using old super 8 films from his family’s archive in his video, he creates a sentimental journey through time. The video and song represent the singularity of the past, present, and future. The song leaves you feeling more connected to yourself and your loved ones, making you realise the significance of the moments you have with them.

Bar Dog is releasing his long-awaited follow-up “River” in spring 2022. The forthcoming album, co-produced by Gideon Carmel, was produced and recorded by Cameron Laing at the “Famous Gold Watch Studios” in Berlin, which is also the label/collective representing Rosa Tu.
