Lie Supine-Be Alright | Pick-me-up

Alt rock with that indie touch has seen a huge chasm of underrated talent. By that I mean, there’s so much of an overlap, you forget to admire good music that comes and goes in a flash. Heavens Hands was Lie Supine’s smooth, melodic track from last year, garnering an impressive stream on Spotify. Lie Supine starts this years festivities off with Be Alright.

It’s safe to say assuming the pandemic is ending anytime soon is stupid. It’s taken more of a moment of deliberation to realise that it is a “to each his own” case here. Be Alright is a synchronized, simple track with an easy chord progression that sticks to the back of your head like a new year’s resolution. It’s simple to listen to as a background, but Lie’s vocals make it a much more complex deal. With his instrumentality and vocals sounding a lot like new wave rock legend Johnny Marr’s vocals, he delivers with painful simplicity the current events of his mental being.

By the time the harmonics enter, it’s a whole new song with a whole new dance. The chorus is a playful, light falsetto stream that doesn’t push on the excess. There’s no part of the track that sounds out of place, all of them flowing into each other like the simple progression that it uses as its spine. For in the end all we can hope for is that it’ll be alright. That’s how the song makes us feel anyways. Do listen to Heavens Hands as well, and explore more of Lie Supine as we’ll have a lot more to hear from him this year and more along the way.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
