Cartinglee – Star / Dust | Tumultuous Feelings

Rachelle Barr’s solo project Cartinglee is a Chattanooga-based singer-songwriter who just released an introspective song called ” Star / Dust “. She reflects on her experience in a long-term relationship that is going through some complexities. She sounded truly honest, and the little shaking in her vocal delivery, in my opinion, added to the emotion and scenario that she so eloquently expressed via her detailed writing and was further enhanced by the arrangements. The entire atmosphere is lovely with overtones of sadness, making you emotionally susceptible. The verses effectively freeze at key points, and if we follow the lyrics, the way each verse closes really piques our interest for the next. Each segment flows and connects with the others in such a perfect way.

The song begins with sparkling, lovely piano notes before transitioning to the vocal melody. The layers are gradually added, which helps to gradually create the music. The bass calmly maintains the momentum, while the guitar gradually introduces some great energy, making the soundscape feel complete and full. For me, the words are the most important aspect of the piece, since they are what propels it forward. The writing holds our attention to the very last phrase. She gorgeously expressed the struggle, and the emotion has such depth that it grows heavier with repeated hearing. I’m confident the song’s melancholic beauty will appeal to a wide range of listeners, and the words will linger in the minds of those who connect with it strongly.
