Kale Johnson – I Never Knew | Sinatra-esque

Jazz, the “musician’s music”, is considered to be dying or dead by a few people around the world for a few years now. Its level of sophistication, and creative attention to detail, certainly make it more challenging to perform or listen to, but that’s exactly what makes it sound all the more extravagant. California-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Kale Johnson, brings back the authentic Frank Sinatra-like Jazz sound with his latest single ‘I Never Knew’. His smooth baritone vocals are the highlight of this track and are accompanied by a mellow electric guitar, a bright piano and a laid-back drum rhythm.

The track opens with Kale’s deep. expressive vocals supported by soft and soothing instrumentation. It seems he’s singing to someone he’s quite fond of, telling them about how they make him happier and more optimistic. Kale takes the listener on a journey that passes by hardships and ultimately leads to contentment with his attractive lyrics.

“I always knew / Some lucky day I’d find you / And all my sorrows would be through / And you’d make my dreams come true”. In addition, the singly-strummed guitars complement the instrumental piano verse excellently  – a truly captivating and engaging performance!

Kale began expressing his love of music at the age of 17 and has been fascinated by it ever since. With three singles out since his debut earlier this year, he has been making waves in the American Jazz/Americana scene for some time now and I’m sure his fans are eager to hear more music from him soon because I definitely am!
