Following their debut release ‘Sail Up’ earlier this year, musical duo Leesha-Z and artist Esme Lark are back with another track called ‘Lonely’. Leesha Haldorson and Luiza Lale started performing under the moniker Leesha-Z recently, and have already been making waves in the scene by surprising their listeners with a different genre blend in every release! ‘Lonely’ features dark atmospheres, deep basses and haunting melodies that suit the song’s title quite well. With distorted vocals over strong beats, the artists take you on an exhilarating ride with this song!
Starting with a big pad and a deep 808, the track moves into a shadowy space of somewhat unpleasant textures. “Lonely / In a crowd where we’re all alone / I’m not the only one pretending to be lost in my phone” – The slightly crushed, over-compressed vocals distort beautifully and convey that dejected feeling of loneliness very well. The beat kicks in mid-verse and sets the groove of the track – steady and hard-hitting. The two-part harmonies further emphasize the dark melodies that play along with the gloomy soundscape. Leesha-Z sure has taken a different approach to write this track as compared to the soulful R&B vibe of her previous release; really showcases her versatile compositional style excellently!
Towards the end of the track, Leesha-Z uses the magic of vocal transformation and changes her voice to a deep male tone – very dark and quite captivating. The immersive production of the track is sure to keep the listener engaged throughout! It’s a fabulous blend of dull, murky sounds that somehow work together to create something fantastic!
