Sam Handy – Done | Musically Sardonic

Reading-based singer-songwriter and alternative pop act Sam Handy‘s new single “Done” has been released. The song is neatly packaged in a variety of musical components. We hear some extremely interesting soul elements in the vocal melody, as well as a classical guitar performance and some jazzy chords added for colour. The whole experience is really energising, and you can’t wait to hear the silky smooth improvisations that have been skilfully interwoven into the arrangement. The plot follows an intriguing arc of a point in a relationship when you feel truly done with being in that frame of mind. The vocal delivery adds to the intensity of the sentiments. The narrative is told in a playful way, which adds to the song’s appeal.

The layout is addressed in a really unusual way. The song might have easily been made melancholy. However, I found that the satirical approach worked best for me. The bass and drums maintained the rhythm tight, which accurately conveyed the fury. Each instrument’s overall performance is excellent. The vocals, whether it’s the lead or the choruses, all sound in harmony. The words are crystal apparent in the midst of all of these colours, indicating that the mix should be appreciated. Finding a balance between these vast layers didn’t appear to be a simple task. Overall, the music captures our interest and keeps us attentive till it fades away. The improvisations are the song’s highlights for me.
