Charlie J is a music producer, rapper and songwriter based in Bridgend, South Wales. With 6 singles and 2 EPs released in 2021, Charlie J just released his newest single, Loved. Featuring MyCompiledThoughts, Loved is a synth filled, absolute bop. Growing up in a unique family, as a triplet with two mothers and living in a number of places around the world, these unique experiences helped shape Charlie J as an individual and artist. Charlie J converts his experiences into interesting and artistic rap verses that make you feel Loved.
The harmonics and production of the track depend on the play of silences and synths, which is very interesting. Additionally, both Charlie J and MyCompiledThoughts work off of each other’s energies, and it shows in the chemistry of their verses. The track gives off a hip-house sort of vibe with R&B influences that shine through it. There are clear electronic and house influences that find itself incorporated into the music of track – which give it a distinct sound.
The track features a trap-like, fast-paced beat Charlie represents a new class of rappers who combine their experiences with unique storytelling, rap and vocals to give you a whole experience in a track. The instrumentals on the track have a J Cole, Kendrick Lamar and a JON VINYL vibe. Additionally, Charlie J’s new single and discography are very representative of the scope that is growing in the UK hip-hop scene.
