What begins with a choral-rock rendition of God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen and the instrumentals to Jingle Bell, the song segues into some seductive vocals by Jamside Up.
This reggae groove is the best way to ring in the Christmas spirit. Staying true to the revolutionary essence of reggae, the song explores a woman navigating her place in the real world. A stark difference from Mariah’s original All I want for Christmas, Jamside Up flips the meaning of Christmas with this debut single. The true meaning of Christmas is a place to call home-sweet-home.
Timeless Tim and MC Burglar are great additions to the track. I really enjoyed this funky, critique of capitalism with all the Christmas cheer but double the introspection. It’s not a secret that people have soft spots for Christmas music, but I think All She Wants for Christmas is a great way to teach people the spirit of Christmas – that of kindness and also shunning capitalism! Ring in this Christmas with some funky reggae beats and the motivation to do some good.
