Harvey Jay Dodgson – Caroline | Uniquely Familiar

Harvey Jay Dodgson is a young, British musician who has begun working on his musical career. Having played a few gigs and worked with his producer, Micheal Smith, Harvey has gained a lot of experience. Upon the success of his debut single, Indigo, he has decided to record a full-band sound with Smith on his latest release, Caroline. Harvey Jay Dodgson sounds oddly familiar, like a young Alex Turner.

Caroline is an edgy track. It seems to establish Dodgson’s footing in the business. The track has a great groove that switches up every now and then, but I think you’ll find it satisfying. The guitar work on this track, while relatively simple, carries the track forward in a most elegant fashion. Harvey Jay Dodgson does a brilliant job on the vocals with the smoothest flow and slickest transitions I’ve heard in a while. The bass line is simply immaculate keeping the groove and moving the song in its own directions. The drums, similarly, have this leading nature to them that seems to affect the whole tempo of the song.

I find the refrain really hypes me up with its transition. It feels just like Sweet sweet Caroline. The track is so rich and there’s absolutely nothing to dislike about it. I think the track just speaks for itself and stands on its own merit. So don’t just take my word for it.

I listen to and make silly noises while analysing why people behave the way they do.
