After an EP this year, Mystik Fool is bringing us a fresh new single titled I’m On My Way. Mystik Fool is a four-piece original band from the East coast of PA formerly known as ITO and the Moonlight Hippies. Sound design, complex harmonies, and soaring choruses take you on a musical rollercoaster in this song. “I’m On My Way” was written in 2018 while brothers Simon (bass) and Galen Deery (vocals) were on vacation at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They say,””We were playing Wii Sports in our hotel room when the tune just came out!” Ha!” The song took on a life of its own as the band worked on it and finished it, all while keeping their upbeat approach.
Tapping into the feeling of travelling and returning home, I’m On My Way is a harmonic arrangement of folk/pop goodness. The ukulele, guitar, drum arrangement with the hints of electronica and the vocal highs that the song hits create an endearing vibe. Mystik Fool doesn’t restrict itself to one genre but explores the surplus of styles coming together from Medicine music to Jazz, from Pop to Reggae, from Ambience to Rock. They call it “Spirit Jam.”
Jeff Martin, (the producer that bought us Trevor Hall and Will Evans), complements this Spirit Jam energy of Mystik Fool and delivers us a wholesome, airy-traveller vibe in the form of I’m On My Way. This also stays true to their brand of prayer to reintroduce a seemingly lost idea of living through love and community. They travel all across the US as activists as well.
What I really love about this single are the harmonies. You can listen to Mystik Fool at any time of the day, and you will find yourself immediately singing along and feeling better. I’m On My Way is a combination of indie pop, folk and rock. For someone who finds comfort in 80s pop and rock, this song is a perfect throwback without being too derivative on nostalgia. Mystik Fool has a versatile vibe that fits anywhere. They truly do have edgy, cool, beautiful, and wild music.
