Alibii – But I | Free of the Shackles

With their first song “But I,” Alibii has made a solid start. The sound is promising, deep, and relevant enough to appeal to a broad spectrum of listeners across genres. The songwriting is straightforward, yet it has depth in terms of meaning and analogies. Courtney Egginton and Will Cumberlege, writing partners, conceived the idea for ALIBII. After meeting while studying music in Sydney, they decided to mix some of their favourite indie rock and dream pop inspirations. The project has grown from its simple acoustic origins to a produced dream pop style, with Courtney as the lead vocalist and Will as the multi instrumentalist.

The song opens with powerful arpeggios on the piano, which establishes the mood and allows listeners to focus entirely on the lyrical portions. The sincerity with which Courtney delivered the vocals has a direct impact on the listener. The progression from keyboard to full drum rhythms is quite captivating. When the chorus melody is mixed with the beat, it creates a really fascinating sound. The addition of guitars adds to the song’s overall pleasantness. Everyone will feel the words to be relevant. It’s worth noting how the drums speed up the tempo, which finally aids the song in taking the listeners on a journey. The song’s structure has a sense of completion.

With the new song, Alibii has established a strong start and has certainly boosted my hopes. They have the capacity to integrate composition and production in a way that complements one other, resulting in songs that appear genuine and honest. I hope the listeners see the connection right away and give them the recognition they deserve.
