California-based Rap and R&B artist AJ La Joya is back with yet another banger. Coming off of the success of Hallucinate, his last single, he has upped his game. The smooth-flowing lyrical genius has created a sleek track with suave in his latest release, Don’t Lie. AJ is getting better with every track he makes, showing immense growth in every single project.
Don’t Lie has hard-hitting beats, with an insane flow and vocal modulation. The synth works as both a percussive as well as a melodic element. I find the beats are dynamic, moving the track forward and then disappearing for a bit to showcase AJ La Joya and his melodious vocals. This track gives me some pretty strong Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi and Lupe Fiasco vibes. I love how his story for this track is about not lying because you can not lie about how good it is. You ain’t even got to lie. As honest as I can be, AJ converted me with Make It Happen, but Don’t Lie just cements my belief in him.
I absolutely love everything about this track. There’s so much to the instrumental like the synth work and the little percussions that just create an uplifting atmosphere. AJ La Joya just hits different. His voice is so soothing and can just take away all your problems in life. If I was in California, I’d definitely want to be at his next concert.
