Mark Sutton – Velvetine | The white noise of serenity

Velvetine is the latest release from pianist and composer Mark Sutton. It is an instrumental piece spanning two minutes and thirty-seven seconds. I often find it hard to describe instrumentals. So I want to say, I find this composition calm and serene. It has a relaxing aura that inspires hope, especially so in the last few keys at the tail end.

Mark Sutton is an English composer who specializes in cinematic soundscapes. The Dorset county-based musician creates background scores for film, TV, and radio. Further, his music is renowned for a thought-provoking, reflective, inner monologue-inspiring sensation. He is correctly noted as an awe-inspiring musician who takes the listener on a journey of self-discovery, and acceptance.

When you hear other works from Mark Sutton, you are likely to notice something — He has a deep sympathy and understanding for the human psyche and condition. This is how he is able to create gentle progressions with the song Velvetine. It is akin to the feeling of clear waves on an empty white beach. Similarly, it feels like clear skies that are inviting and unanxious. There are no apprehensions in this experience; Velvetine is free of disquiet — of sounds and of the mind.
