Norwegian singer-songwriter Ohlayindigo (aka Hanna), known for her versatile genre-crossing pop releases such as “Love You To The Moon” and “Lullaby”, recently released a jaw-dropping fusion track called “Silent Treatment”. Featuring rich atmospheres, ethereal vocals, and eclectic beats, Ohlayindigo has created a captivating sound that will keep you engaged throughout its 3:39 minute runtime.
“Silent Treatment” begins with a vibrant EP melody along with some subtle nature sounds that have a very calming effect. A complex beat progression comprising of a hard, deep kick forms the initial groove of the track, over which we hear Hanna’s lush vocals. Drowned in a good amount of reverb, her voice is in the air and blends with the wide atmospheric textures quite well. The pre-chorus introduces an organ-like synthesizer, which is combined with some intricate automation on the drums to create a certain tension that’s just waiting to break! – “Silent treatment, floating in the air / Silent treatment, not a single care..”
In a chorus that’s exciting and full of energy, Ohlayindigo’s angelic voice floats right between sustained synths and eccentric beats accompanied by a hard bass. In addition, impressive dynamics and flexible beats contribute to the track’s appeal and keep the listener anticipating the drop. It seems she’s translating her feelings that come from a slightly dark place through her lyrics – “scattered thoughts on the paper, bottles on the ground, throw the paper in the fire, never to be found..”
Ohlayindigo has done a wonderful job in arranging the track – she makes you feel like you’re a part of her journey and somehow are involved in her story. She has been putting out music since 2015 and most of her releases feature a different take on the well-known pop song structure. “Silent Treatment” is another stunning track added to her discography, and judging from how popular her other releases are, I’m sure her fans will appreciate this one too!
