With his new song, “IT’S ABOUT TIME,” Chris Ah Gee, a fascinating songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based on the Sunshine Coast, is certainly here to chase his dreams. The song is all about deciding to pursue your ambitions through hard work, perseverance, and an optimistic attitude.
He establishes the hook right away, with incredible vocal harmonies that help set the tone right away. His unusual blend of classic gospel music and intriguing flavour of Neo Soul immediately drew my attention. The atmosphere was enhanced by the Motown-like progressions. From the first eight bars, I’m hooked on the music. Exceptional.
I had no idea there was so much more to discover. I’m progressively becoming engrossed with the Nu-Disco sound. The groovy rap eventually immersed me in this one-of-a-kind sound with highly playful rhythms and harmonies. The addition of the correct bottom tone accentuating the right beats gave it a boost. The jazzy guitar licks and fills are spot on, keeping everything glued to the beat. I’m sure Ah Gee had a lot of fun producing the song.
In a nutshell, the soundscapes are highly appealing and kept me focused throughout the verses. I felt a very distinct combination of colours and was certainly tapping my foot along. Because of the intensity and general mood, it will undoubtedly be on repeat for a while.
