D3lta – Hypocrites | Metamorphosis

It is when musicians come out of the woodwork with no previous information or fanbase with singles like Hypocrites, can we see behind the flashy curtains of the music industry and observe the art of musicianship at its finest capacity. Singer-songwriter D3lta is one such phenomenon, coming out entirely out of the unknown, yet with one of the most musically enriching performances that we have seen this year.

The artist comes into the limelight with the release of their debutant track Hypocrites, a near four-minute ascendance of an arrangement that is both epiphanous and breathtakingly vulnerable. The most remarkable element of the track is the lack of caricature it subjects itself to, as it constantly defines its genre boundaries with every hook and verse — beginning with a soft rock folktronica vocal performance drenched in empathetic lyricism, which gradually develops into a whirl of rage and impassioned industrial rock/post-punk soundscape, sometimes even featuring thrash metallic blast beats.

With the storytelling gusto of Bowie and the soul of groups like The Scorpions, D3lta is certainly en route into the inevitable metamorphosis of transforming into one of the headlining acts of the genres they have chosen for themselves.
