Meggie Brown is a queer artist from London. They collaborate with other queer artists in solidarity. Brown will release their EP Home on the 24th of September. The EP will feature their track Angel LikeYou which Brown describes as a psychedelic cult, fairytale, astral projection, daydream – a queer, shapeshifting collaboration with Sim Gray, Bianca Scout, The Creature Fleur, Shivani Thussu, Sokora Xilber and Lucy Marie.
Angel Like You is a song that is sombre yet packed with emotion, reminding me of one of my all-time favourite artists, Elliott Smith. The track features these haunting vocals, accompanied by a rather happy instrumental. The guitar and piano act as these tinny instruments that give the track that balance. The drums are a rather slow swing that I deeply appreciate in music.
Angel Like You is accompanied by a very artistically made video that features Meggie Brown and what appears to be their attempts to find an angel like you. Meggie Brown has created a beautiful piece of art in Angel Like You, not just visually, but aurally as well.
Personally, Meggie Brown is on my radar now, and I don’t think I can get enough of their music. I am here for it!
