The Gold Coast duo, Buttered, has released one of the more intricate tracks I’ve heard so far in my life. This Australian duo makes alternative, indie music with a soft-core to their tracks. When you listen to the music it feels like all your problems in life just melt away. The smooth, soft, comforting sound that Buttered offers you in their instrumentals as well as the voices figuratively feels like cutting through butter with a warm knife. It’s that ASMR kind of feeling that you get when listening to this dynamic duo.
It Don’t Matter is a track that embodies the phrase. The song has so many things going on, almost as if to tell you, the listener, that there are a bunch of things going on, but it don’t matter anyway. The duo remind me of some really mellow indie artists like Mac DeMarco, Declan McKenna, and Frank Ocean. Buttered is a duo that is definitely upping the mellow scene in music, mostly due to the conflicting idea of being mellow, yet using so many complex elements. But, it works so well! I’m a major fan of the music right now, and I suggest you hop on this train before Buttered blows up more than they already have!
