Stuart Brignell is no stranger to music production. Having toured with some of the biggest names in the business as a saxophonist, he’s begun producing his own music and his second track Speedin (I Need U) shows us just how good he can be.
Heavily influenced by artists like John Coltrane, J Dilla, Terrace Martin, and The Roots, Brignell is able to apply classic Jazz to modern Hip Hop. Stuart Brignell wants to uniquely use Jazz and Hip Hop to show people that they’re not all that different.
The Toronto-based producer and saxophonist has toured Europe, The USA and much of Canada with headliners such as The Doppelgangaz, Dank(from Frank’n’dank), and Anomalie. His previous single Grey Skies features his alto saxophone prominently. However, Speedin shows off his skills as a producer. His beats are greatly influenced by classic jazz kits. Stuart Brignell does bring in modern beats, and he does it so effortlessly that you hardly notice the difference unless you’ve got a keen ear.
Adding to his well-constructed track are the voices of featured rappers Dey, Karlier, Darlinao (Nao), and Lord Nard. Each of these artists has a unique flow that really gets the listener into the groove that’s set up by the track created by Stuart Brignell. If you want a song that will hype you as much as G-Eazy, but with a brisk freshness of jazz, then this is the track for you!
