Hometown is a tongue-in-cheek commemoration of the people and experiences from, well, one’s hometown. Eva Snyder reflects on her toxic experiences of growing up in a dead-end town and now can celebrate her capacity to move away, leaving behind her negative experiences and jesting at the people who never did. While it might come off as a little mean, it feels like a rite of passage we all have to go through in shedding people and places that only inhibit us, and Snyder is able to celebrate this in a peppy and fun country/pop hybrid of a track. Sassy and quintessentially southern, Eva Snyder’s resurgence is something to look forward to.
