Five hours behind is Scottish singer-songwriter Matt Eroteme’s latest release, an indie rock tribute to his father’s immigration and thus absence. The song deals with the idea of being apart, playing conceptually with both timezones as well as emotional regulation with its title. It is a track twinged with yearning and longing, but is cathartic in allowing abreactive reflection on those good times. Soulful and melancholy, Eroteme is able to evoke the heartache of absence, a relatable feeling moreso following the pandemic.
